- The incidence of stem canker was similar to levels seen in 1999.
As in 1999, highest levels were recorded in the North where 100% of crops and 60.9% of plants were affected.
- The mean incidence of blight at 3.4% crops and 12.5%
plants affected was higher than in 1999. Blight was recorded in the East and South West & Wales only.
- Black dot was recorded in the East and South East only, although in these regions
incidence was high with 88.2% crops affected in the East and 100% of crops affected in the South East.
- Both potato leaf roll virus (PLRV) and potato virus Y (PVY) were
recorded in less than 1% of plants. Verticillium wilt was not recorded in the summer of 2000.
- Sclerotinia was recorded in the East only, while Botrytis was recorded in the
East and South West & Wales.
