Unsprayed crops at green-yellow bud were inspected for Pollen Beetle
 
Pest monitoring in unsprayed commercial fields was undertaken at the green - yellow bud growth stage. It is at this stage that the crop is susceptible to economically significant feeding damage from pollen beetles chewing into the buds.

Thresholds
Published thresholds are 15 per plant for forward crops and 5 per plant for backward or thin crops. Most of the crops investigated were growing well, several crops have been patchy and thin.

Number of sites with more than 15 pollen beetles per plant:1 (1.2%)
Number of sites with more than 10 pollen beetles per plant:6 (7.1%)
Number of sites with more than 5 pollen beetles per plant:17 (20.2%)
